For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

Lord Jesus, Thank You for the gift of repentance, which brings about change and makes us turn from sin. I praise You for freeing me from the hopelessness of worldly sorrow, which produces no good and results in death. Amen.
