All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: ‘Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’’

Gracious Lord, we thank You for keeping every promise spoken through the prophets of old. You sent Your Son, born of a virgin, fulfilling the ancient words and bringing salvation to the world. Blessed be Your name, for Emmanuel — God with us — has come, and Your faithfulness endures forever. Amen.
