You have heard the law that says, 'Love your neighbor' and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!

Lord Jesus, I know I can't love my enemies on my own power. Human nature compels me to return evil for evil. But I rejoice that You have freed me from my sinful nature, and that by the power of the Gospel, I can and am expected to show my enemies love, compassion and forgiveness. Give me the strength and humility to follow this command. Amen.
